Tinos3 reaches 100 commits in less than 4 months
Tinos3 reached 100 commits on October 31 and it got also a few more commits during the same day. Officially Tinos3 started it's development on around July 17th and it is now November 1st as of writing this post. So the commit amount averages a bit under 1 commit a day. the largest number of commits in a single PR is part of the rewrite. Currently though if you go to the repository and on the main branch, you'll not see the 100 commits. Currently it is only in the feat/gui branch, where the current desktop work is being done.
Tinos3's rewrite
Tinos3 was rewritten in October and it got over 50 commits on bit over a week. It was kind of annoying to make a full rewrite but we got it through and it has been merged. The release that came of the PR is 0.2 beta 1.
Why a rewrite?
The existing code structure was becoming increasingly difficult to maintain. Additionally, Lua support wasn't considered when the original architecture was designed, making it harder to integrate properly.
Rather than continuing to build on an increasingly difficult structure, I decided it was time to clean things up and rewrite most of the OS from the ground up.
What's planned for November and later
As i have said in a previous post, the future is uncertain for Tinos3. We're actively supporting and developing Tinos3. I also said that there's a lot of work ahead for 0.2 but we're happy to release 0.2 when it is ready. We're pouring a lot of time into this OS and also hoping to improve the user experience down the line
